Danger! VPS hosting kills your business
In case you missed the news – VPS hosting companys are terrified at the moment (and for good reason!).
Some time ago I decided that it was time to take a look at VPS hosting, since some of my sites where starting to generate a lot of traffic, and needed more ressources – or so I thought…
I choose to sign up with a VPS hosting company, and boy I have never experienced so much down time ever before. My earnings fell like a rock, and I was totally frustrated with it. If you are anything like me, you’d probably start digging into the tons of information about VPS hosting to learn the ropes of managing a linux server.
While I was doing a lot of research, it came to my attention that the HyperVM software that most VPS companys had a lot of serious security issues, and to top things off the developer killed himself. My VPS host notified me and all other clients that the VPS software would be taken offline, and that there was a huge and real risk of hackers compromising files and databases on any VPS server.
All in all, this made me quickly move my high traffic sites back to both Hostgator and DreamHost, and they have been running like a dream ever since. Please don’t make the mistake of using VPS hosting at this moment, unless you are a linux guru – or feel like gambling with your business.
Instead I recommend that you create a backup host with either Hostgator or Dreamhost.
